Q3: Spanish Property Increasing

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) Quarterly Index shows that Spain remains the most popular destination to buy a home overseas having grown in popularity steadily throughout the year, thanks a sharp fall in property values.

Spain increased its share of total enquiries coming into OGC from 16% in Q1 to 22% in Q2 and ended Q3 sharing the number one spot with France, both with 24%.

Overall for the year, Spain’s share of enquiries is 21%, just 1% behind leader France.

Conrad Bedford (Overseas Property Shop) mentions … “Properties in the Costa Blanca have been selling strongly – a large portion of the “NEW MODERN PROPERTIES” are taking over from the swamped and overcrowded ‘tired’ bank stock — We have started to drop bank repossessed stock as clients are just not buying them anymore – client’s prefer the new, larger properties that are now on offer (prices at 2002/2003 level)” …
